Center for Promotion and Support of Agricultural Enterprise, Sandomierz, Poland and Polish Bakers Association, Warsaw organized the
Forum for Bakers from CEE countries.

The Forum was held in North Poland, Krynica Morska, between 26 and 29 May, 1999


The Bakers Forum goals are:

The goals will be achieved during panel discussions about the most important issues done by Polish Bakers Association's experts & members, lecturers and during Fair POLFOOD displays and bakery visits.

10:00 Welcome and introduction
11:00 - 1:30 pm Panel discussion on Development perspectives for private bakeries, including growing competition and liberalism in CEE countries economy; threats identification"
1:30 - 2:30 pm Lunch
2:30 - 5:00 pm Panel discussion on New technologies in bakery production - to fulfill consumers' needs"
The discussion will be held in aspect of new products, marketing and concentration of production issues.
The aim of both panel discussion is to present trends and tendencies in bakery market, highlight existing threats in particular for smaller, private bakeries and jointly work on strengthening private bakery sector.

9:00 - 11:30 Discussion forum about Equipment and machinery in bakeries - new technologies and modern effective systems". Based on our experience it will be very interesting for the participants. Bakery owners have to improve their products quality to satisfy their clients. In order to achieve that, they have to modernize their bakeries equipment.
Polish Bakers Association will share their experience in this area and warn their colleagues against doing mistakes they did in the process of modernizing their bakeries. The best experts in this area will participate in the discussion.

2:30 p.m. - 4:00 Suppliers' offer (15 minutes presentations)

8:00 a.m. Departure to Gdansk - POLFOOD '99 fairs
9:00 - 1:30p.m. Visiting stands and displays especially bakery pavilion. Discussions with bakery machinery and equipment suppliers. POLFOOD Fairs are organized since 1994 and are the second (after POLAGRA) biggest event presenting bakery equipment.
1:30 - 2:00 Lunch on the Fairs area
2:00 - 6:00 Visits to the leading bakeries in Gdansk. The aim is to get acquainted with techniques and technologies utilized in Polish private bakeries. During the visits the participants will have chance to discuss interesting them issues.
6:00 -9:00p.m. Dinner and visiting Gdansk Old Town
9:00p.m. Departure to the hotel

9:00 - 11:30 Discussion on gained experience lead by Polish Bakers Association expert, experts representing Bakery Industry Research Institute and bakery owners. The aim of the discussion will be sharing experiences and answering the questions.
11:30 - 11:45 Break
11:45 - 1:30p.m Discussion about Bakers Associations role and international cooperation in craftsmen bakeries development".
The discussion will lead the Chairman of Polish Bakers Association and representatives foreign associations participating in this Forum. The aim of this discussion is describing cooperation rules among associations or assistance in development bakers associations in other CEE countries.

About the Organizers:

Polish Bakers Association (PBA) is very active organization, assembling 800 members, organized in 17 regional branches.
PBA in cooperation with partner associations from other countries.
The Chairman of PBA is vice chairman of international bakers organization (UIB).
Last year, with the Center for Promotion & Support of Agricultural Enterprise PBA organized Study Tour for Bulgarian Bakers Association. As a result of the Study Tour four Bulgarian bakers took practical training in Polish bakeries. About the Forum location:

The Forum will be held in Krynica Morska, 50 km from Gdansk near the Baltic Sea. This region is known of well tourism development and high level of >businesses. The bakeries in this region are very modern and well managed. There are also located the companies producing for bakery industry. We believe that the Forum participants will have a lot of opportunities to gain experiences both from the experts and the bakers, who introduced many improvements to their businesses in order to adjust their bakeries to the market requirements.

Forum Costs:

Participants will cover their international travel costs.
In addition each participant will pay participation fee equal 350 USD (1400 PLN).
This fee will cover food and accommodation during the Forum, and interpretation.
Forum organizers will cover: local travels, lecturers fee and other logistics costs.

Forum Language:

An official Forum language is English, so participants should speak English or at least in country group should be someone fluent in English (or Polish), who will translate to his/her colleagues.

Transportation:

Forum organizers will assure participants transportation between hotel >(Krynica Morska) and Warsaw or Gdansk (participants arrival/departure place).
